Bon soir, mes cheres. I 'ave zumwat recovaired from ma mal de sinus and 'ave retourned to you. Okay, let's drop the knobite French and get down to business. Hoagland "Hoagy" Carmichael (1899-1981) would rank among the immortal American songwriters if he'd only written ONE of the many classics he wrote. But this is a good one to start with: "Stardust", a 1927 melody with lyrics added in 1929, sung by the wonderful, classy Nat King Cole. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFyKAUBkdOsAnd tonight, for the sake of our dear Craig Crawford, who will be appearing with the Big Man at precisely 8:50 PM, Lady Fair IS watching. Big Man, I am so easy to please. Wanna blog?

For beverages tonight, I brought Italian sodas, in honor of the wonderful pomegranate and blood orange sodas I found at Whole Foods, which make delightful floats. If anyone needs another beverage, let me know. By the way, I listened to Ridge on Rachel Maddow's show tonight. It was almost like ... well, yeah I said it, but it's not what I said.

Hi, Linda. Is the puter behaving? It's weird. Although I can get to WaPo the link for the crossword causes my comp to freeze. It's my morning ritual to do 5 or 6 crosswords. Gotta wake up the old gray cells.

Those look wonderful! I love the way the Rethugs are without exception always misquoted or misunderstood. Maybe if they talked standard English instead of wingnut, they wouldn't be.

I watched Rachel and Ridge as long as I could but it was painful to watch a grown man squirm. I recorded it, so I'll be able to watch it in installments.

Gotta wake up the old gray cells. It may be their server, not your puter. I have trouble like that a lot of times getting to the articles.

Good question, the answer to which is: 2 oz blanco tequila ¼ oz fresh lime juice 1 to 2 tsp crème de cassis 3 to 4 oz chinotto soda Build in a highball glass with ice and stir gently. Garnish with a slice of lime.
