Oops. Moon, where'd the Moet and Chandon go? Meanwhile, two of my favorite things in one: chocolate and roses.

I cannot understand, for the life of me, why the new administration had any sort of hopes of bipartisanship with the GOP. Especially the bunch of petulant ones who managed to hold on to their seats.
John Boehner was speaking on CNN this PM, puffing and blowing about the stimulus package and how the GOP wants to help people blah blah blah--Well, it don't look like it from out here. He pissed me off so bad I had to change the channel.

They were never serious, anyway, for the reasons I said last night. They knew from the start they would lose, and if they actually blocked at least this attempt, it would have changed the power balance, and it would have been a BIG victory for them. It seems to me that everyone is analyzing this on too shallow a level. You can bet the republicans are looking down the road on this.

Did you see Rory's post about the four GOP idiots in the TN General Assembly who have joined in a frivolous lawsuit about Pres. Obama's birth certificate? The one who's speaking for the four of them insists that they're not trying to be obstructive or any of that--they're actually only interested in putting it to rest once and for all. The hillbilly word for that is bullsh*t. Fortunately, none of them are from my district. I can still hold my head up partway (although I'm still mortally embarassed over the "nay" votes cast by Sens. Alexander and Corker and Rep. Duncan--who do not adequately represent all the people of TN and of Duncan's 23rd district).

It's all about getting power, and holding it, and nothing about actually governing. It's a sort of hybrid libertarianism, liberally laced with cynicism.

Talk about a sad coincidence with that September 11 widow dying in that plane crash. Ironically, while they were talking about the crater caused by the crash, I was thinking about Flight 93.
OMG I didn't realize was her husband actually ON Flight 93?

You may not believe this, but I first started believing they were seditious back in the late 70's, when they seemed to be doing things I would call unpatriotic solely for the purpose of unseating President Carter. Ironic that he should be on tonight. I think the republicans were, in reality, more afraid of Carter than of any democrat since then.

OMG I didn't realize was her husband actually ON Flight 93? I missed that bit. As a corollary though, dare we hope that Coultergeist--who included Beverly Eckhardt in that group of 9/11 widows she said such vile things about--will keep her big ugly mouth shut this time?

Ironic that he should be on tonight. I think the republicans were, in reality, more afraid of Carter than of any democrat since then. Know why? Because he is a genuinely good man--and none of them are. Incidentally, did you ever read Mr. Jimmy's book THE BLOOD OF ABRAHAM? It's twenty years or more old--I read it back in the eighties sometime, after Anwar el-Sadat was murdered--I was and remain so impressed by his foreign policy acumen--which most of us thought (wrongly) he didn't exhibit over the Iranian hostage crisis.

You may dare to hope, but you should be prepared to be disappointed. She may have troubles of her own at the moment. She is currently being investigated, according to some of the blogs, for voter fraud, this time in Connecticut. You may recall she's already been so investigated once in Florida. Hopefully those woes will keep her quiet--or she'll have a backset with the broken jaw and have to be wired shut again.
