Katie, you've not mentioned the ugly purple tie or did Jindal's candy-cane make you realize there are worse things than purple ties?

For some reason, I also think of carrots when my stomach is upset. Usually raw, but these baked carrots looked pretty good, too.

I love Dana Milbanks' columns. It is amazing how many do not "get" his sense of humor. We are always led to believe that it's liberals who don't have one.

Katie, you've not mentioned the ugly purple tie or did Jindal's candy-cane make you realize there are worse things than purple ties? No. This is a contest of wills, Linda. If we have a lurker who checks in from the show, then I'm hoping that if I can refrain from griping about the purple ties, said lurker will pass it on that I've quit griping and the Big Man will quit wearing them. I can dream, anyway. Meanwhile, though, it's OCTOPI, isn't it--not octopuses?

There, now someone said it, and you won't get blamed for it, right? Yes, it's OCTOPI. Unless it's James Bond. Then it's OCTOTHINGY.

Well, I'm the rule that proves the exception. I checked humor at the door. In tonight's case, the bathroom door. Nothing at all funny about that.

When will the Republicans learn that fewer and fewer people are impressed by their blatant racism? What angers me more though is that so many of them think we're too stupid to know they're being racist. Maybe, if they learned to speak to us as if we had brains, we might start listening to them.

A late thought: ain't that a shame that, the one time Tucker Carlson talks something that sounds like sense, he gets booed?
(And did the Big Man actually call him "our old friend"?)

They're so insular, they don't even know that 70 percent of Americans think they're crazy.

Okay, here's the big cheat. I leaped right from carrots to carrot cake. And that cream cheese frosting is certainly clean ... by anyone's measure.
