Patty, so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. A loss like that is hard, even when she had suffered through so much.

Good evening, Fair. Hi Patty. Just so you know, Patty ... I'm not watching Countdown tonight ... even more than usual.

Neither am I. I think Mom's watching a Food Network cake challenge.

Patty, so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. A loss like that is hard, even when she had suffered through so much. Thanks Katie. It was hard to watch her suffer, but the moment when she passed away was peaceful and helped ease our pain along with hers.

Moon, shall we start with the pic of the pied-a-terre? Set the scene?

Patty, so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. A loss like that is hard, even when she had suffered through so much. Ditto, that. I lost my mom and dad five months apart. My mother had suffered for quite a while, so I know a little about how you feel. It never quite goes away but it does hurt less with the passage of time. At least you were there. I was not there when my mother passed away ... I was just an hour or so away.

Thanks Katie. It was hard to watch her suffer, but the moment when she passed away was peaceful and helped ease our pain along with hers. Thank God for that. How is your dad doing? He seems to be doing okay, but now that everyone has gone back home or back to work, it will be hard for him. Initially he will have lots of tasks to keep him busy. But he also needs to grieve and go through the process.

This is our little pied-a-terre for the evening. Set on the River Seine in Paris. Very nice. It so happens that I was writing another story for Fair's 2nd Annual 31 Days of Halloween this afternoon that begins in Paris--a Paris far less pretty than this: the story begins in 1670. But it got me thinking of Montmartre, pieds-a-terres, French music and art, and my favorite of all stories about Paris--i.e. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. So--with everyone's permission--is that all right?

Did anyone else see Chris Matthews with Rod Blagojevich tonight? That Blago is still convinced he's innocent and the tapes will prove it. Matthews was trying to tie Rahm Emanuel to some dirty dealing over his House seat. Anyone know more about that?

It's breathtaking.

Matthews was trying to tie Rahm Emanuel to some dirty dealing over his House seat. Anyone know more about that? I saw the last few minutes of that. I believe that Rahm is way too shrewd to get caught up in something like that. And it is a pretty common knowledge in IL that the Feds having been watching him (Blago) for quite a while now. Personally, Blago is so delusional and will continue to play the victim until his dying breath.
