Time for some mid-morning treats to go with Laura's excellent authentic Mexican food. Gust will be around to serve everyone while we enjoy the mariachis. A champagne jello mold with green and red grapes. Some grape jello swirly thingies. Some watermelon jello. And some lovely grape jello shots with whipped cream topping.

This was hilarious Moon. I couldn't take my eyes off Chris Farley LOL! Oh, I don't know. I'd call it a toss-up between Farley and Swayze, but Farley was certainly agile. Swayze has pancreatic cancer, by the way, same as my stepdad, but they must have caught it much earlier.

Saw a current picture of him and he seems to be holding it all together, so I hope he will around for a long, long while.

Good morning, dear hearts, and my heartfelt thanks to all of you!
Nan, dear, it's not how well a person sings "Happy Bday" that matters; it's the person singing it, and I'm glad you did! Thanks!
Moon, the snacks and videos are spectacular! Especially that watermelon jello mold. Yummy enough to dive into!
G1--thank DT again for the poem; Fairweather is so pleased you reposted it for us. And the watermelon art is exquisite! (My faves were the ballroom dancers. Tango, anyone?) Also the Vincent van Gogh. for reasons I'll detail below.
Chris, Krista and Brenda: thanks bunches and bunches. Glad y'all are with us (I mean FW and the other multiples plus me) on this special Monday.
Laura, the Mexican food and especially the mariachi band are wonderful! I have always loved mariachi (especially that guitar--the likes of which I've seen in no other form of music)--there's something in the rhythm of it that could almost convince this two-left-footed hillbilly girl she can dance!
Sorry to be late for my own party. I woke up in a flurry, uncle here to haul the trash, Blackadder indignantly demanding his breakfast, and getting Mom situated before I could sign on and join in the fun.
One thing I'd like to share, though: The other day when Auntie was up she brought me an early Bday gift. I journal, more or less daily, in longhand--and this one is so cute, a sort of post-Impressionist Paris street scene. It sends me off into a fantasy world--sitting under an awning in a cafe, wearing a beret, sipping Evian (oh, what the heck, it's a fantasy, so let's substitute a glass of vin ordinaire), scribbling and sketching, nibbling a pastry and (of course), flirting with le garcon--
Gotta say, though, this is better online than the fantasy. Y'all even found a waiter for me to flirt with!

Substitute Arles for Paris, change it to an evening scene, and I believe we're there -- By the way, we were sort of hoping you might direct us to some local scenery that we would see if we were cruising along in that old Cougar .....

Moon, that's EXACTLY it! It's Arles! Wait a minute I'm vaguely incoherent here--that's exactly the picture on the cover of my journal! It's a Van Gogh! Thank you! As for the local scenery--let me check out a few places and I'll get back with you!

I have never seen but one in my entire life--that was in a ring that my supervisor at the factory, lo these many years ago, had. She had an aunt who made jewelry and had done the ring for her. It wasn't as colorful as these though--didn't look so much like watermelon -- Meanwhile, yep, Sadie would indeed find that intriguing. She's in a bit of trouble at the moment, though. She and that brother who's retired from Jack Daniels aren't speaking because, while he was giving her and Roscoe the fifty-cent tour (that's hillbilly for the VIP tour) she had the gall to complain that Bud Light tasted better than Jack--

Oh, Moon, that's definitely something for us to read over the next few days! As for The Mount, that's so cool. Incidentally, it's supposed to be haunted too--by Wharton, her husband, and a man who is alternately described as her secretary or lover (he was probably both). Thanks!
