May I, before I begin, ask for your prayers for my Blogstream bud Barry (Anexplorer) who received very bad news regarding his cancer status today. His blog is at anexplorer.blogstream.comWhen he began blogging in, I think, February 2008, I was one of the first people he reached out to. He's been my most encouraging friend of all the ones I've made on the 'Stream, and he is a truly gracious, kind and humble man. Please say prayers for him. Now then: our theme for tonight comes from a point where music and politics meet. Doc Watson playing "Windy and Warm", an instrumental by the great John D. Loudermilk: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YS9oRdOfGDIThe health care debate has gotten that way: a convergence of a whole lot of wind (i.e. gas) and hot air. Thermostats on both sides running dangerously warm, shouting and gun-totin' and the rightwing pundits doing their dam*nedest to rouse the rabble. But I have one other thing I want to say, and it has nothing to do with politics. Today when I went to the mailbox, the Rose of Sharon and crape myrtles in the yard are in full bloom. And I saw that, on the crape myrtles, leaves are turning a heartstopping blaze orange--and I realized fall is barely six weeks away. We've had enough rainfall this year, thank God, that the leaves should be spectacular. I missed them terribly during the drought years. I'm actually gonna watch the Big Man tonight. Saw some captures from last night at Kos and he looked weepy, so thought maybe I should. ;D Wanna blog?

Good evening, everyone. So sorry to hear about Barry. I'll check that later. He visits Much Ado from time to time. Tonight I think Countdown just looks puffy.

Hi Fair-I am only watching KO because the White Sox play late tonight.

Is it just me, or is Chuck Grassley really an idiot?

Good evening, everyone. So sorry to hear about Barry. I'll check that later. He visits Much Ado from time to time. Tonight I think Countdown just looks puffy. I'm sitting on the couch facing the TV but I can truthfully say I haven't looked THAT close. Did catch a flash of what looks like a blue striped tie. Okay, now I looked closer. I kinda like the new specs.

I brought some cool treats tonight because it's so windy and warm. A hummus platter (above) and some lovely flatbread to go with it. Sarah Palin is a two-faced hypocrite. Ho hum. Tell us something new.

Is it just me, or is Chuck Grassley really an idiot? He's an idiot that just blew up health care reform.

I am not fond on KO's new specs. Unless I'm missing something, those are the 80's reborn.

Patty, has your mom heard her latest test results? Yes and it is mixed news. The brain tumors (5 in total). 3 have shrunk and 2 have stabilized (not grown). But her other scan shows that she now has tumors in her other lung. And last night I got the call that they have placed her in a rehab facility because she is so weak that she can barely walk. The weakness is an after effect of the whole brain radiation, but she does not seem to be doing any better even though the radiation is done. Her case seems eerily similar to your friend's case. They both need our prayers.

My prayers for him as well and my thoughts to both of you.

BTW, over on Facebook I signed up as a supporter of Pres. Obama. I figure right now the more of us who stand with him the better.

Just looked in over at Craig's for a second and one of the girls says she heard in passing that Teddy Kennedy is not expected to be able to attend Eunice's memorial.
I knew he's been away from DC most of the summer (otherwise the healthcare debate would look very different, I have no doubt). But I didn't realize things were this bad.
