I do NOT get this whole thing with the Secret Service. George Bush did not allow protesters within two miles of his motorcades, and the Secret Service here is permitting people to be carrying guns in close proximity to the President of the United States. I suppose this might possibly be partly Obama's fault for insisting on going places where George W. Bush would never have gone, but doggone that's the Secret Service's job to protect him. You know I've been thinking the same thing. At the VFW event today, I spotted only one agent and he was standing by BO's side. I had expected someone to be standing in front of the POTUS. I don't think you're supposed to see them. In fact, it's bad if you do. The mayor of Milwaukee (Tom Barrett) that Rachel is talking about right now used to be a congressman, and was also briefly Moonbeam's uncle's roommate, many years ago. He would make a pretty good governor. Better than the others that Rachel mentioned. The current governor knows he stands no chance of being re-elected, and he's likely to get an Obama appointment any day now.

I wonder if he has government-sponsored insurance.

Sometimes, as they get older, our parents become almost like our children. We just have to be there (not necessarily in person), and be strong for them. How true. I just don't want to see her suffer. My mom is 4'9" but one of the toughest ladies you would ever meet. And it it sad to see her so weak. She has always been so active & to see her in this state is just sad. But I do try & always stay strong for her & my Dad. Many hugs and my support Patty to you and your family during this difficult time with your mom. I always said the worst time I ever had was watching my parents age and become ill and losing them. For as long as we have them, it is truly a gift. Hang in there friend..
