I have it. Susan Howatch, who wrote big trashy family sagas back in the seventies. Or Barbara Taylor Bradford. There you go. Jill St. John in the role of Sarah Palin. And Lauren Bacall as the matriarch since Barbara Stanwyck's no longer with us.

Where were these gun guys speaking out when George Bush was keeping peaceful protest miles away from him? The guy on Matthews was arguing that if you owned a gun legally, you were obviously a law-abiding person (like the guy at Virginia Tech, for example), and you could be allowed in the front row at an Obama town hall. No problem. If a crackpot like the guy at VA Tech owned a gun legally, then the laws need to be changed to keep mental patients from owning them, or if such laws are already on the books, they need to be uniformly enforced. As for gun nuts in the front row at an Obama town hall, absolutely not. Not even my dad, although as gun nuts go he was relatively sane. Just acquisitive and foamed at the mouth about ownership. Even HE knew there were places where guns weren't appropriate.

Did anyone else see Chris Matthews take down the gun guy? Wow. Yes. He was very proud of his right to bear arms, but very coy about his belief in the Birther movement. In for a penny, in for a pound, I say. Sounded like Delay was a birther, though. That was weird. And he blames the fact that he was indicted for not being able to be a pistol packer himself.

Katie, did you ever read "Mandingo" series by Kyle Onstott and Lance Horner? Mum and I used to fight over who would read them first.
