Hey Brenda, I'm not a cat person either (I could be if half of my family wasn't allergic). Anyway, our HS mascot was the black panther-and I have a yearbook to prove it. ;D
I need to figure out how to post pics on here as a guest-or, I could just sign up again. I'd love for all of you to see our own Zephyrello Chewey Smith-he is quite the dog.
We have truly been fortunate to get an Italian 'mutt' that is good with chasing and retrieving, obeying commands, and dealing with four little boys that want to love on him sooooo much. We love our Zephyr dog.

More pootie cuteness.. i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk263/lovescats_2008/ rockstahkitteh128420084895865000.jpg [/IMG]
Oh, I miss kittens in the house, but every time I mention it, hubby gets that "I'm Having You Committed" look on his face.
Well, I'll tell ya! Next time ole hubby gets that "I'm reaching for the papers to sign" look on his face, just dial up a good old fashioned "Curt Flood Stare" Ya'll probably mostly too young to remember Curt Flood, a Hall of Fame pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals who was said to be so intimidating to batters that the glare alone from the pitcher's mound would scare them out of the box. When my beautiful Dalgliesh dog showed up on our door step (9 years ago today, in fact) and my husband viewed that massive, improbable, puppy bulk taking up the whole den floor and said, "Honey, we can't keep him." I scorched him with my best Curt Flood stare. Needless to say, that was the end of that discussion. I've used it successfully on miscreant dogs, naughty horses, neighborhood kids who insist on putting their fingers through the fence to pet Dash (a good way of going through life known as "Lefty") and the occasional attempted murderer - who wanted me to go out with him. . . as soon as he was released. Works on all of 'em. I'd be happy to teach you the technique. Or I could just send Dash to talk some sense into him. That works pretty well too. . . . (LOL!)

Photobucket gives you tips on how to. Get goin' girl..we want to see pics of your boys and their pup, and of you too. ;D Hugs.

No pics, but a potentially sad kitty story has a happy ending: news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080704/ap_on_fe_st/odd_crazy_cat;_ylt=AoCONk9BpAkJwA7wvQty4d4Z.3QALewis the cat, who has a restraining order against him after his 2006 one-kitty crime wave, has apparently reformed while under house arrest. He was a "claws celeb" (don't blame me for that atrocious pun; blame Yahoo!) because people were trying to reach a compromise to keep him from being euthanized after he terrorized his Fairfield CT neighborhood.

Poor, poor Criminal Kitty. We wouldn't want this to happen to a kitty belonging to anyone around here --

That must be one bad cat! The grandmother of three of our kitties was a feral calico-- a large cat but not remarkably so. She had a litter of kittens beneath the neighbor's garage and we thought we'd extract them, get them fixed, etc. My wife attempted first but gave up in fear of the mother. I thought it was ridiculous to be afraid of a housecat... till I tried it. She was the most menacing beast I've ever encountered in the wild. On a second attempt she leaped directly at my head and left me bleeding in a dozen places. We never did catch those kittens.

Thanks for this Katie. I read about it some time ago when the incidents first happened. The paper had a picture of Lewis actually pouncing on someone. He's seemingly be a nice little kitty sitting in his front yard, but when someone went walking by, he ran and pounced on them. He very nearly did get taken away and put to sleep, but the publicity and the pleas from people and his owner to spare him, were heard. I just hope his owners are extra special careful to make sure Lewis is restrained when they take him outdoors. Anyone who says there are foreign terrorists out to get us haven't met Lewis the Cat. ;D

We need to explain to Sen. Obama that he REALLY needs to get a pet: news.yahoo.com/page/election-2008-political-pulse-pets-and-politicsPet owners (other than us) prefer McCain, who practically has his own zoo, to Obama, who has no pets at all. We need to send him a copy of Chris's DKos diary. The poor man obviously needs advice from regular people.
