Here's my contribution to today's pootie party. I'll take a pair of these in a size 6. Nah, too girly for me. I'm holding out for the Simpson's flip flops!

Thanks, Laura!! These are so cute--especially the Hoverkitty. You're welcome Moon and Katie. Someone's very clean glass table provided this absolutely hilarious picture. How many times have you wondered what it looks like under a cat when they lay down like this ;D Mine was lying like this on the hardwood floor. I knew exactly what I couldn't see looked like. I always feel so much better about everything when I see a picture like this.. Hugs.

These are the true rulers of the world.. Very majestic pooties. I can think of an alternative caption for the middle one, but with g1 on line, I'll restrain myself. The one with the crown seems to have purloined the Crown Jewels of England, including the Black Prince's Ruby, which is really a spinel, but don't get me started.

Ladies, we have a truly strange synchronicity going on here. This morning I got up with the intention of doing a blog at my Gimme a Book site about the folklore motif the King of the Cats and Stephen Vincent Benet's 1929 story of the same name, dropped in here first, and find y'all already riffing on the King of the Cats. Do brilliant minds work alike or what? If you'd like to read the end result of my meanderings, it's at gimmeabook.blogstream.com. Fairweather's spooked. Me, I think it's funny.

For a few weeks, when my nephew was younger, I used to go to his primary school and read to the kids during their library period on my day off. I recall fondly that one of the books I read was an illustrated retelling of "The King of the Cats" by an author of children's books, but I can't remember the author's name. (I had to stop doing that though when my day off got changed.) Meanwhile, Moon, tell me about the Black Prince's ruby which is actually a spinel. I know you're talking about the eldest son of Edward III, who died of some intestinal ailment the year before his father--was it something he ripped off or took as partial ransom during the Hundred Years War or what? PS thanks for the tag.

You reminded me of The Devil and Daniel Webster. When I read it, oh so long long ago in my youth, I remember being so very glad I read it. Thanks for that memory, also I had never heard of the story The King of the Cats, but yes, we must all have been thinking cat kings this week. I loved Moon's response to your story and the footprints..so sweet. Hugs.

Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend .... Over at Much Ado, Fairweather commented about how even Liz Taylor would be awed by a 5,000 carat diamond. That, of course, made me think of Miss Taylor's line of cosmetics and scents called White Diamonds. A couple of minutes on the google yielded the Liz Taylor White Diamonds Barbie Doll ... Which was pretty good given that we've been talking of Cindy McCain as Gothic Barbie etc. (By the way, note those incredible violet eyes). But if you're wondering why I posted this on "Pootie Pictures of the Day," it's because my search also yielded a beautiful cat named Jewel because of the "white diamond patch" on its chest. I have to confess never having seen eyes like that on a cat. Even better than Liz, I'm sure you'll agree. A jewel, for sure.

We need to explain to Sen. Obama that he REALLY needs to get a pet: news.yahoo.com/page/election-2008-political-pulse-pets-and-politicsPet owners (other than us) prefer McCain, who practically has his own zoo, to Obama, who has no pets at all. We need to send him a copy of Chris's DKos diary. The poor man obviously needs advice from regular people. Thanks for the plug! Also, I have some pictures of a "Giant Economy Sized Pootie" that I'll post up as soon as I figure out Photobucket!

Liz Taylor's eyes beautiful yes. Kitties eyes look like that because of the angle of the light on them. This kitty could be one of mine. Both indoor babies have white patch on chest. This could be my kitty CC.
