www.boston.com/lifestyle/fashion/articles/2009/06/18/canine_couture_is_a_doggie_dont/“I’ve interviewed dogs about clothing, and most do not like clothes,’’ pet psychic Bridget Pilloud told me. “They think clothes are silly, and that they cause people to see them as cute instead of seeing their true nature.’’ Now, I’m no pet psychic - heck, I’m not even an intuitive animal communicator - but I can still tell that some dogs would rather take a long bubble bath than be paraded about in an Ed Hardy doggie T-shirt. I attended a dog fashion show earlier this month where a chocolate Lab was forced to dress up like a former first lady, but the poor thing ended up looking more like Little Edie Beale from “Grey Gardens’’ instead. The dog’s face was sending a clear message: “The person responsible for this humiliation is going to be cleaning a mess off of the carpet tomorrow morning.’’

LoLoL What's funny about this is that they actually do it. Every one of the dogs I've known would push an empty water dish across the floor to bring it to my attention.

LoL This may not be funny in a conventional sense, but I guess can laugh about it now. When I was 12 or 13, my aunt got a Pekinese puppy that looked a lot like this. My cousins mercilessly named him "Fang." Right after my aunt got Fang, she brought him over to our house for a visit. Being just a few weeks old, he weighed -- maybe -- a couple of pounds and was a tiny as the dog in this picture. My aunt handed him to me to hold, and I cradled him in my arms, pretending he was a baby. Evidently not amused, Fang immediately jumped out of my arms and landed hard on the floor, breaking his leg. I remember that I made more fuss than he did, thinking I had probably killed him. But, thankfully, the vet fixed his leg right up, and for weeks he was also a pirate. He bore me no ill will, however, and we remained good friends for the next 15 or 16 years. For all they say about Pekinese, Fang was a wonderful little dog. Thanks, Laura, for the wonderful picture and the chance to reminisce.

Strange. This reminds me of someone I've met blogging. Just about as scary. I wonder what size shoe that is.
