Three birthdays to celebrate tonight, mes cheres: 1157: England's King Richard the Lionheart (Richard I), quite a noted composer and singer, one of whose tunes, "Ja nus hons pris (No man who is imprisoned)" is here performed on solo lyre (alas, no vocal) www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIPferOrSRI1897: Jimmie Rodgers, country's first solo superstar and beloved Singing Brakeman, here singing "Hobo Bill's Last Ride" www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujgh-ELNst0and last but far from least 1932: Patsy Cline, arguably the greatest woman country singer ever, here singing her first number one hit, from 1961, "I Fall to Pieces" www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuZTk1hdpMsTonight's a champagne and chocolate night, I think. In celebration of life, good news and Bdays. Later, I've promised Moon a selection of Hampson's "greatest hits" and Linda a tenor or two. And while I probably SHOULD say something about the ongoing healthcare reform debacle and other great events (or non-events, as the case may be), I'm gonna skip all that. And, Big Man, I am not watching--unless Linda and Moon tell me you are expounding on a topic I should listen to. I'm shallow that way. ;D

Well, I'm shallow in every way, so there. But ... meow. What a line-up. How's this for a start? I think we've covered all of the basic food groups, including food for the soul.

The R's are saying that the president changed the text of his speech, but admit they have neither information nor proof of that. I suppose that's enough proof for them.

Hi, Linda. Actually pretty good. How was yours? Mine was pretty good. I'm into reading again. I don't know if you're aware that I posted at your book blog about a week ago.

No, I'm glad you told me. I haven't been there in awhile myself, largely because I'm working on my Halloween blogs and not reading a whole lot other than ghost stories. Will check it out ASAP.

"Then a dark form pendulumed down at me." It wasn't just you, Linda. The language IS so awful it's funny. Funnily enough, he got it out of his system in the first two chapters and then it became a very readable book. Thank goodness, I hung in there.

Let the indulgence begin. That chocolate thingymajig looks excellent. Um-hm. Decadent. I love that word, btw. I feel that way tonight. So don't mind me if I get a little virtually tipsy and silly.

I renewed my photobucket pro account today. Good thing, too. If I hadn't, the entire world was scheduled to go blank in about a week.

Am I the only one who thinks that, when the President of the United States give a speech, he should wear a suit and tie? Come to think of it, what's Countdown wearing tonight?
