I first saw Messiah when I was about 11 years old at the Halle Hall in Manchester. Sir John Barbirolli was the conductor. Please don't ask me what I had for dinner yesterday. ;D I'm almost ashamed to admit that I'd never heard ANY of it until I actually SANG it in college. I think I was nineteen. It was, however, what really turned me on to Baroque, and from there on I was hooked.

This is the guy who committed suicide, right? He's GOOD. He was indeed. I first heard him the same night I first heard Hampson--that Rossini gala. As you know, he and Hampson frequently performed together and were close friends offstage.

Wildly out of season, but Hampson does sing Christmas music awful pretty. This is a German carol, accompanied by the Vienna Boys Choir. www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbQiQ5tBhvIShould you ever have the opportunity, pick up a copy of his CD CHRISTMAS WITH THOMAS HAMPSON. It was the first one of his CDs I ever bought, and still my favorite. You could cut one for me. Just sayin' You know, you're exactly right. Just as soon as A) I can get Willard to show me how, and B) I get some blank CDs. Hey, Linda, if you'd like one I'll do one for you at the same time.

It's just getting him to commit that might take some time.

Just takes time and ties up the computer. I like to leave the originals in their cases and use the copies ... you lose a little sound quality, but it's not too bad. They're what I use at work.

I'm going to take a break for a little while. Good food, good music and good company. What more could a person ask for? Good night.

Night, ladies. Tomorrow is Pres. Obama's address on healthcare to a joint session of Congress. Must see, I think.
