This had definitely NOT gone unnoticed by Jon Stewart - he mocks FOX for their idiocy, hypocrisy, etc.; however, he also mocks MSNBC - he once called it the "Obama Love Fest Channel" -I love it when people call it as it IS!! MSNBC has lost it!! Well, KO has, the rest did during the primaries, but most have come around - too late for some, and many hurt feelings as a result, including mine; however - watching Stewart mock MSNBC and KO and the rest makes me feel a lot better - I'm not insane, they were, and KO was and is!! It's a shame that the mainstream feel that they have to come down on one side or the other. It would be great to read, see and hear objectivity in the news. When Walter Cronkite died, Countdown wrote a diary at dKos where he more-or-less declared objectivity obsolete. Or maybe it was an article. I forget.

Here's a little treat for both of you for keeping me company tonight. I really enjoyed the chance to chat. Ahem! I'm still waiting for tea. That cake looks worthy of my best china-for a second or two. ;D I'm sorry. Did you ask for tea? There was so much confusion at the beginning about the threads, I must have missed it. Here's a VERY fresh cup.

I found a new ice-cream. It's Fleur de Cel by Haagen Dazs. It is vanilla with ribbons of caramel and sea salt. Very tasty.

Well, if we're all being bad tonight, I guess I'll join in. I haven't watched COUNTDOWN since last Friday night, the last night Richard Wolffe was on--possibly ever, if what the Big Man said at Kos sticks. But I have to say, not watching is good for my nerves.

As usual, I wasn't listening. Did KO manage to give any credit to Bill Clinton? I don't hear any spluttering or gagging sounds. I wasn't totally listening, but it seemed to be more about how Bolton and D!ck Morris were wrong. But as I understand it, the groundwork had been laid by others, and Clinton was only the messenger sent at Kim Jong Il's request to put the right face on this ... i.e., he was high enough in stature to suit Il's ego. May I quote a line from my beloved Michael Wood? As he said once about one of the Saxon kings of England, who in his old age took pleasure in being treated as an equal by no less a royal person than Charlemagne, there is nothing an old tyrant craves more than respectability. I suspect Kim Jong Il, nearing the end of his tyrannical life, wants to go out looking respectable, and also wants to show the world he DOES respect some other leader. Obviously that leader couldn't be Dubya--and I suspect that, had Hill C won the election instead of Obama, Kim would still have wanted to see Bill; Hill would, as a woman, been beneath his tyrannical notice.

What was interesting is that I didn't think he looked that ill. At least not as ill as he's looked in the past.

"Cash for Clunkers" is going to pass according to Harry Reid. I wasn't originally convinced about this myself. Claire McCaskill says there's a possible problem that Chrysler and GM haven't created the necessary inventory. But the republicans are SO much against this, I've decided that I'm for it.

On the Food Network right now Bobby Flay is throwing down with some of our local celebrity farmers who make really great pies.

I haven't watched COUNTDOWN since last Friday night, the last night Richard Wolffe was on--possibly ever, if what the Big Man said at Kos sticks. But I have to say, not watching is good for my nerves. What DID he say at Kos? Direct quote from his Special Comment diary on Monday--about which I raised sand, you may recall-- " As to Richard Wolffe I can offer far less insight. I honor Mr. Greenwald's insight into the coverage of GE/NewsCorp talks, and his reporting on Richard's other jobs. I must confess I was caught flat-footed. I do not know what the truth is; my executive producer and I have spent the last two months dealing with other things (see above) but what appears to be the truth here is certainly not what Richard told us about his non-news job. I am confident his commentary to this point has not been compromised - he has been an insightful analyst and a great friend to this show - but until we can clarify what else he is doing, he will not be appearing with us. I apologize for not being able to prevent this unhappy set of circumstances from developing." Glenn Greenwald had done a blog about Richard being allowed to appear on the show, let alone host, because he has a conflict of interest, working as he does for Dan Bartlett's conservative PR firm.

But doesn't all of this more-or-less come right out and say that Countdown is slanted? Truthfully? I think it goes without saying that COUNTDOWN is slanted, same as Ed, Tweety, and Rache are. Difference is, Ed, Tweety and Rache allow opposing viewpoints--and Richard seems to be very careful never to express an opposing viewpoint--one of the things that ended up with Dana Milbank going to CNN; Milbank made that mistake.

It seems that Lou Dobbs is to be KO's new whipping boy which convinces me that KO HAS been told to lay off Billo. Dobbs is going to be the new means of an excuse for KO to display his, albeit false, modesty. Sad, sad, sad.
