Ahem. A "sighs orgasmically" icon. To be used whenever Moon gives us some especially sensuous dish. Sorry to hear things didn't work out for Rana. She must be terribly disappointed. She is, and pretty much was from day one; she tried very hard to start her own projects - as none were assigned - many stay and love the two-year deal of drinking, partying and not paying to live in a beatiful apartment on the beach - not Rana - that's NOT what she signed up for - she really wanted to make a difference - it was not going to happen!! It's sad!! President Kennedy must be rolling in his grave. Didn't he and Sarge Shriver start that program?

It's so terrible - I'll be writing several letters - I'm not sure who will get the first, or last, but they're coming!! JFK has truly been let down, as have all the others who have dedicated so much time (years ago) to create an organization that DID, at one time, make a difference!! It's just appalling!!

After six, maybe - I have grown fond of Rachel and let go of the animosity I had for her as a result of the primaries!!

Pam, I am sorry that it did not work out for Rana. But it speaks volumes that you raised a great daughter. She went in to it for all the right reasons, and did not stay for the right reasons also. It is a hard, but valuable lesson when you go into something and it does not turn out to be what you expected. But she is sticking to her values by not continuing. I am sure that she will find her calling, just not with the Peace Corps.

You can be sure that he had the best healthcare that money can buy. True, and had he been in better health, would have been raking Obama over the coals!! Talk about ironic. On the other side, had Senator Kennedy been in better health he would have been raking Rush Limbaugh and the republicans over the coals.

She has friends assigned in other countries and they told her it's the same!! I'll probably "cc" whoever is in charge and mail it a couple of weeks after my originals - I want him/her to get the letter LAST!! Whoever is in charge knows exactly what is going on, as do the "Country Directors"!!

And Rana left for the exact reasons you stated - she wanted to do the right thing and could no longer live with what was going on, or herself!!

Whoever is in charge knows exactly what is going on, as do the "Country Directors"!! Well, according to Wiki, Obama's choice for director wasn't confirmed until about 12 days ago. In July, 2009, President Barack Obama nominated Aaron Williams, a career international development specialist, to serve as the new Director of the Peace Corps. At the time of his nomination he was serving as vice president for international development at RTI International, a nonprofit research institute headquartered in North Carolina, with offices in the U.S. and around the world. A former senior official with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Williams was a volunteer in the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic in 1967-70. He also was coordinator of minority recruitment for the Peace Corps in Chicago in 1970-71. Williams was confirmed by unanimous consent of the Senate on Friday, August 7th, 2009. Before this, there was an "acting director" who was a holdover from the Bush administration. Maybe now that Obama's appointee is in place, things will change. Unfortunately, not soon enough to help Rana.
