Anybody hear a word he said? Katie's excused as she's not even in the same room. Oh, dear. No wonder he's looked weepy several times of late. ;D Without Dio's pictures, I would know as much about that as I know about the color of his ties. LoL

I'm not sure but will find out; they have "Country Directors;" however, Rana has told me it's the same in every country. She has friends assigned in other countries and they told her it's the same!! I'll probably "cc" whoever is in charge and mail it a couple of weeks after my originals - I want him/her to get the letter LAST!! Whoever is in charge knows exactly what is going on, as do the "Country Directors"!! Well, according to Wiki, Obama's choice for director wasn't confirmed until about 12 days ago. In July, 2009, President Barack Obama nominated Aaron Williams, a career international development specialist, to serve as the new Director of the Peace Corps. At the time of his nomination he was serving as vice president for international development at RTI International, a nonprofit research institute headquartered in North Carolina, with offices in the U.S. and around the world. A former senior official with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Williams was a volunteer in the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic in 1967-70. He also was coordinator of minority recruitment for the Peace Corps in Chicago in 1970-71. Williams was confirmed by unanimous consent of the Senate on Friday, August 7th, 2009. Before this, there was an "acting director" who was a holdover from the Bush administration. Maybe now that Obama's appointee is in place, things will change. Unfortunately, not soon enough to help Rana. Thanks so much for this information, moon!! And I knew much had to do with Bush, and so did Rana!! Sadly, I don't think the new appointment will be able to change things as quickly as needed. Most assignments are two-year assignments and we all know how long things take to get done - if ever, i.e. health care reform!!

It extends, for sure!! And I'm glad you don't think it's cold, moon - knowing what he did - writing that article outing her days after Joe Wilson's - well, as I said on facebook, it's unforgiveable!! What's unforgiveable to me is how they've collectively failed to take responsibility for the thousands of lives that have been lost in Iraq, all for nothing. They still think what they did is noble and patriotic. That's the sad and disgusting thing, moon - they really DO believe it was noble and patriotic!! They will never get it, never have and never will!!

Other people's families? Collateral damage.

Somewhere in here he takes his shirt off. Nathan Gunn and Patricia Racette in AN AMERICAN TRAGEDY, a downer of an opera based on Theodore Dreiser's book of the same name (the plot for the Montgomery Clift/Shelley Winters/Elizabeth Taylor movie A PLACE IN THE SUN): www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kdzzc4_lPf8

Great resume'. Maybe he'll make some changes. I hope so, Linda!! I'm both very sad and very angry!! This needs to be publicized so that everyone knows more about the true extent of damage done by the Bush administration. Who knew they wrecked the Peace Corps. I wonder what other dirty little secrets will be revealed in time.

That's no doubt true, but just like OJ Simpson probably believes he didn't murder anyone, I'm convinced the Bushies have rationalized all of their greed and power lust as being for a real and noble cause. There's a psychological term for this that I can't think of right now.

I have a confession to make - ever since I saw the title of this thread I have NOT been able to get this song out of my mind and it's driving me NUTS!! On top of spaghetti, All covered with cheese, I lost my poor meatball, When somebody sneezed. It rolled off the table, And on to the floor, And then my poor meatball, Rolled out of the door. It rolled in the garden, And under a bush, And then my poor meatball, Was nothing but mush. The mush was as tasty As tasty could be, And then the next summer, It grew into a tree. The tree was all covered, All covered with moss, And on it grew meatballs, And tomato sauce. So if you eat spaghetti, All covered with cheese, Hold on to your meatball, Whenever you sneeze.

I had already seen the movie once or twice when I read the book and realized where the movie had come from. Ironically, it reminds me of Sarah Palin and her stubborn, ignorant opposition to family planning. For as far as we've come, it's not very far at all.

Who knew they wrecked the Peace Corps. I wonder what other dirty little secrets will be revealed in time. To be honest, moon - THAT is my goal!! And I won't stop until every single person I can think of has received, or at least I've attempted to send, a letter to. I began composing it the week before last and will probably be finished some time next week!! I am so serious about this; to see what has been done is beyond reprehensible and I will do everything within my power to bring it to the attention of as many people as I can!!

In the years those books were being written, Margaret Sanger was being jailed for teaching family planning.)

I remember way back when - both during the primaries and the campaign, President Obama specifically addressing major reforms in the Peace Corps!! At the time, I simply thought he wanted to make improvements, etc., and that was great; I admired that about him - NOW I think I have a much better understanding of what he meant!! And to cut him slack, I don't think it would have been appropriate to expose the many, many young people in these countries either wasting their time (or their families), or drinking, partying and WORSE, yes, WORSE!!

Actually, that's sort of disappointing, at least to me. He's altogether TOO reluctant to expose the Bushies' dirty laundry.
